FROM THE DIRECTOR
So, yeah. I got chlamydia. Once. Maybe twice.
Don’t look at me like that—we’ve all been there. Stuck in the clinic waiting room, leg shaking, checking out the guy across from you even though, duh, he’s probably here for the same reason you are. It’s an awkward, itchy, embarrassing experience. And it can turn devastating fast when you find out that you contracted gono-whatever from someone you thought you could trust. That hurts. A lot.
Inflammation aside, Magic H8 Ball is about the unanswerable questions we ask ourselves after a shock like that. What did I do wrong? Do I love him more than he loves me? Who am I without him? Did he cheat on me because my nipples point different directions?
Gay heartbreak (like gay relationships) are their own beast, and Magic H8 Ball tries to capture with full honesty (and hopefully, hilarity) the 20-something gay experience in 2018. It's a wild, weird, heartfelt, and refreshingly inappropriate dude-on-dude dramedy—and every ounce of credit belongs to the amazing, hardworking, super attractive, and entirely LGBTQ+ cast, crew, and creative team who connected with the film on a level I never even imagined, ran with it, and worked their asses off for months and months to bring this to life.
We’ve all been Adam. Felt the shame, confusion, and dejection he’s trying to cope with. Wished for an easy answer to our problems. Gotten a taste of pure freedom and been left craving more. Let our hate and insecurities get the better of us. But it’s a story we all share—as heartfelt as it is humorous as it is real. And now, we’re excited to share it with you.
Also, go get tested.
